File this under “I’m not sure if this is for real, but I want one!”. A company named Humane AI hit social media in a big way last week announcing the launch of what they are calling ‘AI Pin’; a sort of wearable tech broch if you will. It can record audio and video, you can talk to it and it’ll look things up, or even translate languages in real-time, you can use hand gestures to control its functionality, and it can project a digital display on your hand when you hold it up.
Again, this sounds way too good to be true, but it was all over social media last week with people eager to get one.
The company was founded by former Apple designers Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, and they appeared in a video on X/Twitter on Thursday launching the product, which will begin pre-sales on 11/16/23 and retail for $699.
Humane AI has raised over $200 million from investors including Microsoft, Tiger Global, OpenAI CEO Sam Altmanm, and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
