Jealous of Nvidia much? Announce you’ve come out with your own AI chip. That seems to be what one chip maker has decided to do.
AMD has announced that they are launching their own in-house designed AI chip, and boy has it sent their stock flying – which I can’t help but think was the real reason behind the announcement in the first place.
Already both Microsoft and Meta have committed to using AMD’s new chip. AMD’s new AI chips will start shipping in 2024.
Analysts estimated that AMD could end up with about 10% of the total AI chip market. So yea, a good business if you’re into chipmaking!
